Residential Garbage

We run five routes every week that allow us to provide our residents with weekly curbside service for garbage, and brush/C&D collection. The City of Seneca provides each resident with a garbage container for the storage and disposal of garbage. The container is owned by the city. The resident is responsible for cleaning the container regularly.

  • City ordinances require that all garbage be bagged and placed in the container when possible. Additional containers can be provided at a reduced rate. For more information on rates, please contact the office.
  • Containers should be rolled out on the night before collection day. The cart should be placed with the handle facing away from the curb. Please do not place the container near mailboxes, trees, flowers, or automobiles. The container should be rolled back to the house before 7:00 AM on the day following collection day.
  • Do not put paint, poisons, acids, explosives, or any dangerous or hazardous materials in the container.
  • On most Holidays, we will run our normal schedule. Residents will be notified if any change is necessary to meet holiday schedules.

If your container is damaged, stolen, you need an extra container, or if you have a problem or question about residential garbage collection, give us a call.

Medical Exemptions

Single-family residences where the resident and all other residents are unable to roll the container to the curb can have their garbage picked up from their yard. These persons must provide the sanitation and recycling department with a signed city exemption statement. A doctor's Statement stating they are not capable of rolling their container out to the curb, and be legally handicapped. If there are multiple people living in the residence, statements are required for everyone living in residence to qualify.

The container needs to be placed in an area that is acceptable to the Sanitation and Recycling Department. All garbage and recycling should be in plastic bags. Containers should not be placed under carports, inside buildings, near flowers, trees, cars, mailboxes, or other items that may be damaged.

Exemption forms may be picked up at the Sanitation and Recycling Office at 298 E South 1st St. Seneca, SC 29678 or by calling 864-885-2750.
