Residential Garbage

We run five routes every week that allow us to provide our residents with weekly curbside service for garbage, and brush/C&D collection. The City of Seneca provides each resident with a garbage container for the storage and disposal of garbage. The container is owned by the city. The resident is responsible for cleaning the container regularly.

  • City ordinances require that all garbage be bagged and placed in the container when possible. Additional containers can be provided at a reduced rate. For more information on rates, please contact the office.
  • Containers should be rolled out on the night before collection day. The cart should be placed with the handle facing away from the curb. Please do not place the container near mailboxes, trees, flowers, or automobiles. The container should be rolled back to the house before 7:00 AM on the day following collection day.
  • Do not put paint, poisons, acids, explosives, or any dangerous or hazardous materials in the container.
  • On most Holidays, we will run our normal schedule. Residents will be notified if any change is necessary to meet holiday schedules.

If your container is damaged, stolen, you need an extra container, or if you have a problem or question about residential garbage collection, give us a call.

Collection Assistance

Due to medical necessity or hardship, collection assistance may be available with the following conditions:

  • This service consists of a city employee rolling the roll-cart out to the collection truck, dumping it, and returning it back to the residence. No loose waste will be moved, carried or collected by city personnel.
  • This service is only available to residents living in single-family residences and multifamily residences with no more than 3 dwelling units.
  • Each resident that desires the service must be approved annually either by providing a note from a medical provider relevant to the service request or through review and discussion with Public Works staff.

Exemption forms may be picked up at the Sanitation Office at 324 Shiloh Rd. Seneca, SC 29678 or by calling 864-885-2750.
